I started teaching Ashtanga because I wanted to be a part of a community of practitioners who feel this practice is one of a beautiful transformation, one that we can all be a part of while we work this magic together.  As a teacher of this rich lineage it is of absolute importance to me that my students feel safe,   that they feel welcome to practice no matter what they struggle with.  This being said, I do offer my students the use of props, different options for each pose based on who is in front of me, as well as a sincere desire to know each person for who they truly are.  I hold my students up through humor, compassion, and the with deepest gratitude for their presence.

Mysore Style &
Ashtanga Modified

​I will help you learn modifications to the traditional Ashtanga sequences that are more accessible to practitioners in a fun but challenging way.  Mysore Style and led classes are meant to deepen your personal Ashtanga practice while the Plus classes will focus on modified Primary sequence, leaving some asanas out, and include others that compliment the traditional sequence.  Leave feeling cleansed, rejuvenated, powerful.

Power Vinyasa Flow
​

Power Vinyasa classes are based out of the Ashtanga system, with creative, powerful sequencing that allows for variations to the tradition:  longer holds, and luxurious stretching as well as strength building and cardiovascular fitness.  Expect to sweat and be challenged physically as the ​purification process unfolds.  In these classes expect to be challenged both in body and in mind while marrying breath and movement.

Foundations

Foundations classes are suitable for beginners but expect to find challenge as we work to marry movement with breath.  We will focus on stretching the body and feeling our breath in new ways while exploring shapes and power.

Begin your journey today!

Yoga is a journey of the body and mind that works toward uncovering the truth of who we really are.  Along the way there are bumps in the road, but there are also paths of least resistance - all parts of the journey help us peel back the layers we've grown so used to up until this point.  Our only job is to show up with a humble spirit so the practice can do its work.

Your practice can be likened to a canvass just waiting for the brush strokes to create a work of art: each time you step foot on your mat is equivalent to one brush stroke.  Over time something amazing happens.  It may not have an expected outcome but you can be sure a beautiful transformation will take place.  
Ashtanga Yoga: The Ashtanga tradition of Shri K. Pattahbi Jois (and now his grandson Sharath Jois) is an energetic practice with the focus on the breath, married with movement (vinyasa) in a sequential series of postures (asanas).

It is traditional for the student to take in the lineage from the teacher, thus preserving it's truest form.  In our classes, there is the option to use sheets that dictate the sequence for the student and we hold no bias if it is needed to continue on your path.  The hope is that the student will continue to practice regularly so the practice begins to take form from within.  


Mysore style:  The student is doing the sequence of postures at their own pace.  Students are given postures individually as they progress in their practice.  It is traditional for the teacher to decide when to allow the student to move forward with the next posture, and we encourage questions around this action.  

Led class: The teacher instructs the group together leading the class through either a Primary Series or a vinyasa flow style. 

In Ashtanga it is traditional to practice six days per week, usually at dawn.  If one follows the tradition, it is preferable to take rest on new and full moon days and Saturdays, allowing the practitioner adequate days off.  It is also traditional for women to take 'ladies holiday,' or more accurately: the first few days off of practice during your period.  We leave that for you to decide, without judgement.
