From Terrified to Confidence: My Yoga Teaching Journey—and a Resource for Yours
Jenni Sol Yoga | MAY 16, 2025
When I first became a certified yoga teacher, I was terrified to actually teach.
I almost didn’t do it.
But the program I trained with required 100 hours of teaching to graduate—so there was no hiding behind the fear.
Was it daunting? Absolutely.
Did I do it anyway? Hell yes, I did.
But I’ll be honest—I felt completely alone through most of it.
There was no one to bounce ideas off of, no mentor to ask when I had questions, and no space to process the messy in-between moments when I wondered if I was failing. (And wow, were there a lot of those.)
Looking back, those 100 hours shaped me more than anything else. It actually took me a full extra year to log them all. That extended journey forced me to dive deep into the art of teaching—not just to check a box, but to grow into the teacher I wanted to be.
I became obsessed with how to cue clearly, what muscles and actions to focus on in each pose, how to sequence safely and creatively, and how to make classes feel like a full-bodied, heart-opening experience.
That messy, meaningful path—from scared and solo to confident and capable—is what inspires the work I do now.
If you're a newly certified yoga teacher who feels unsure where to begin—or how to move forward—you’re not alone.
I’ve created a free 5-day challenge just for you. It’s designed to offer practical tools, thoughtful reflection, and a little structure as you start to find your teaching voice. You can try it right now—just click here to begin.
And if, after that, you're craving more support, more confidence, or more practice? I offer a seasonal mentorship program that might be the next step. But for now, just take the first one.
Because becoming a teacher doesn’t happen in a weekend. It happens with intention, curiosity, and a lot of grace.
And you don’t have to do it alone.
